It’s hard to be healthy in a sick world.

When you’re trying so hard to thrive and much of the world is barely surviving, it can feel like you are being selfish.

In fact, some people will flat out say that to your face these days.

We can’t make everyone happy; and there are some people who, no matter what you do, will never let themselves be happy.

For times like these, I love this quote:

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”

I wanted to give you a few permission slips for this crazy time we’re living but really, it works anytime.

Here they are:

It’s okay to disappoint people.

There will never come a time when absolutely everyone will like you.

And, if they do, ask yourself if you are showing up as your real self.

It is a mathematical impossibility that everyone will like you all the time, simply considering the backgrounds, social conditioning and preferences of each individual.

It’s okay to disagree.

I know it doesn’t seem like that in recent years because there are some very loud people who are shouting that if you don’t believe, think or feel the same as they do, then you cannot share space… online, in their life, whatever.

And don’t even get me started on the hypocrisy that is cancel culture.

But it comes down to this… not every conflict requires a resolution.

You can walk away from it, drop it or agree to disagree.

It’s okay to be happy.

You cannot be sick enough to make all the sick people well.

You cannot be poor enough to make the poverty stricken wealthy.

You cannot be depressed enough to make the person committed to their misery feel joy.

Stop trying. We are all meant to have different experiences.

The world doesn’t need one more person to forfeit their happiness.

If you can access that within you, if you can choose it every day in spite of your circumstances, embrace it and revel in that.

The world needs you.
