I know someone who says, “the best antiseptic is sunshine”.

She’s not talking about getting more sun.

She means that things grow in the dark.

Things that are toxic to your mind, body and soul.

Your power comes from looking at the dark places of your spirit.

It is giving you a heads-up to pay attention.

Because what you resist, persists. Another saying that is 100% true.

And when you don’t pay attention and push it down, what happens is anxiety comes spilling out all of your nooks and crannies.

We all have times when anxiety runs us down so here are 3 tips to deal with it.

  1. Nurture curiosity about it – Why am I anxious right now? What is bothering me? What is triggering me? Why are you waking me in the middle of the night? What are you trying to tell me? What do you want me to know?
  2. Stop running away from it – Sounds counter intuitive but it’s the best thing you can do is stop running away from what triggers your anxiety. You may be guided to look at something but then the scared part of you says, “Nope, that is going to trigger my anxiety!” Then pay attention. This is a gift to you showing you what needs to be looked at or attended to. Your guidance isn’t just for the positive things in life; it is also to highlight the dark corners of your spirit that need to be lit up and dealt with.
  3. Cultivate stillness in your life – yes, this means meditation. Or one that works for you. Choose a form of stillness and quiet that you work best with. Examples could be meditation, prayer, talking to spirit, walking in the woods – whatever works for you. You will never be able to hear the answers to the questions in #1 if you don’t create enough quiet space in your life for them to be heard.

Anxiety is fear and fear is shrill and chaotic.

Your guidance is confident, but quiet and certain.

Make room for it to be heard over the noise.
